Jake Tapper tries to defend Barack Obama’s time as a community organizer…

 Here’s the comment I posted in response:

1) Obama started the back and forth by referring to her as the Mayor of Wasilly (sic) instead of giving her the respect she was due: she is the sitting Governor of the largest state in the union. Talk about extreme sexism: he would never have dared do that a man.

2) When you call into question her experience as a mayor, then that puts his “experience” as a “community organizer” on the table. People want to compare his work to MLK or Jesus: how laughable. The reality is that it’s more like Al Sharpton.

3) He didn’t do this out of altruism. He got paid for the work. Maybe not as much as a Wall Street job, but: a) we have no proof that he was ever offered one in the first place, and b) he was laying the groundwork for running for office in that district. Just because he was employed by a church (my church as it so happens), doesn’t make it charity. He had extremely selfish reasons for doing it as anyone who has ever actually read his book would see.

It’s no more laudable than my sister going into public accounting for five years so that she could get a six-figure job afterwards. Both are equally mercenary, and neither is a qualification for the presidency.

3) Speaking of reading his book, those who have can tell you that *Barack Obama himself* didn’t hold the position in high regard. To him it was a stepping stone and nothing more. These people trying to make him to be Mother Theresa or something similar evidently are either unwilling or unable to read what the candidate himself has had to say on the subject.

4) In response to some of the commenters here who are twisting Gov. Palin’s words: she has never said that rape is not a crime. It’s a deliberate misreading of “society’s mistakes” to make it say what they want you to believe. An objective reader can figure it out for themselves: the only ones believing this sort of ridiculous tripe are the ones who are writing it.

A Rasmussen poll out today is spelling potential disaster for Barack Obama:

In the overall population, Obama only beats Palin on experience by 10%. With independents, it’s only 5%. That’s the #1 on the ticket vs. the #2, and he’s only barely winning. Oh and, by the way, did I mention this poll was taken before her speech last night in which she laid the wood to his backside over his lack of executive experience….repeatedly and to great effect…

…This is definitely not going to help Michelle’s children.

…at least, the fact that he graduated without honors from Columbia College would tend to imply it strongly….

 His campaign is refusing to release his grades or other information about his academic career either at Columbia or Harvard, and now we have a good idea why.

 Harvard Law School is one of the most prestigious and competitive law schools in the country. Yet this guy who didn’t even graduate with honors somehow managed to find his way into the school and become the Law Review editor. Given his extraordinarily thin resume, his time at Harvard has been one of his biggest selling points as proof of his intelligence and even (laughably) cited by his supporters as proof that he’s ready to be commander-in-chief.

If his “achievements” are the result of racial preferences rather than competing on a level playing field, doesn’t that significantly tarnish them? Doesn’t the public have a right to know how his credentials stacked up against other (probably) more-qualified applicants who weren’t admitted to Harvard?

It’s certainly high past time that demands were made of him and his campaign to produce the records to let the public for itself how much credence they should give his highly-touted academic achievements….

In yet another “airbrushing the past” incident, the Obama campaign has magically wiped away the evidence of his past opposition to the surge, lack of faith in our military, and general piss-poor judgment…

…so says David Lightman of McClatchy Newspapers….

Never mind that Obama is a neo-Marxist…

Never mind that Obama thinks that I’m a bitter, gun-loving, Jesus-nut too stupid to figure out things for myself…

Never mind that Obama wouldn’t even be a U.S. senator were it not for the fact that he was the last man standing after scandal eliminated a rival that would have easily dusted him in an actual election…

Never mind that he doesn’t have a single legislative accomplishment to show for his time in the U.S. Senate….

Never mind that he can’t bring himself to actually denounce the idea that the U.S. brought 9/11 on itself or that the government created AIDS to kill colored people…(He only denounced what he called “controversial statements.” He never specified which statements. His lawerly parsing wasn’t an accident.)

Never mind that he thinks I am gullible enough to believe he belonged to a church for twenty years and had no idea what they stood for…

Never mind that he thinks it’s OK to hold fundraisers at the home of an admitted domestic terrorist…

Never mind that he’s involved in corrupt land deals with enemy agents and political fixers….

Never mind that he thinks people who wear flag pins are false patriots…

Never mind that his wife is a bigot of the first order…

Never mind that his first instinct, when he got in political trouble, was to throw the grandmother who loved and raised him under the bus…

Never mind that he is unable to make the distinction between having a difference of opinion and planting a bomb…

Never mind that he is the favorite candidate of Hamas and the Iranian regime…

I haven’t even gotten to the color of his skin because I could care less. Unlike Obama and Lightman, I judge people on the content of their character. I have seen Obama’s character and found it sadly lacking.

I could go on for pages, but why should I? After all, according to both Obama and David Lightman, the only reason I wouldn’t vote for him is because I’m clinging to my fear and dislike for “people who don’t look like me.”

Too bad neither of them would ever have the courage to say it to my face.

Just hours after getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar for planting questions and swearing they’d never do it again, Hillary Clinton’s campaign did it again.

This time they tried to claim it was just an innocent conversation between old acquaintences. Problem is, they weren’t. And it wasn’t. It was the same old sleazy underhanded Clinton tactics: they just figured that lightning couldn’t possibly strike twice. Who would think to even check so soon after such an embarrassing incident after all?

This brazen huckstering shows that for Hillary there is no such thing as spontaneity: if it’s not in her script, it doesn’t happen. And we thought Al Gore was stiff and robotic in 2000? He’s looking like a freewheeling firebrand by comparison to the rigidity of Hillary Clinton and her handlers. Not that I’m complaining, mind you…The more the American public sees of who and what she really is, the less likely we’ll have to hear from her after November 2008.

In what has to be one of the saddest displays yet of Hillary Clinton’s inability to deal with challenging situations, her campaign just got busted planting questions at a “town hall”-type meeting in Iowa. Fearing that she would make yet another mistake by going off her pre-scripted evasive answers, she has resorted to both pre-selecting who would ask the questions, but the questions they will ask as well.

This is clearly a person completely incapable of thinking on her feet. If it’s not completely rehearsed and the message previously screened, she obviously can’t handle it. How in the world would she manage the unpredictable world affairs if she can’t even handle a small town in Iowa?

How low can you go? It’s one thing to accuse your political opponents of lying to/about you - it’s still a low blow, but often par for the course. But now the campaign is calling the woman Hillary cited as an example of the kind of person she was going to help a liar. Not a political opponent. Just a working mom that Hillary stiffed on a tip.

Rather than acknowledge that the campaign screwed up by not leaving a tip at the restaurant, the campaign tried to lie to her by first saying the tip was left on a credit card. But when faced with the fact that the credit card machine doesn’t allow for tips to be added, the story quickly changed to “Well then, they left a $100 bill there.” A magical $100 which no employee at the restaurant could find and which was claimed only after the first lie was thoroughly discredited. Yeah right.

Just like so many before her who have dared contradict Queen Hillary, this poor woman is being called a liar to cover up Hillary’s failures. The politics of personal destruction: thy name is Hillary….
